The Sabah Women Entrepreneurship Association has lauded the Sabah 2018 Budget, saying it shows the state government’s commitment towards uplifting the welfare of women.
Its president, Aminah Ambrose, said the Budget served to empower women through the various programmes implemented by the government through the community development and consumer affairs ministry and the Women’s Affairs Department (Jhewa).
“The Budget is ‘people-centric’, covering all segments of society, women included,” she said in a statement today, adding that Chief Minister Musa Aman had recognised the important role played by women in the development of the state.
“The budget offers the best for women, boosting our roles in developing the family institution and entrepreneurship.”
She further commented that through the increased allocation in micro-credit and village entrepreneurship, women would be empowered to gain a better footing in business.
Aminah, who is also Kudat Umno Wanita chief, said the Entrepreneurship Development Programme for single mothers and women living in poverty would equip them with the knowledge and skills to help them improve their livelihood.
“I am happy to note that the state government has acknowledged that the role of women cannot be overlooked as they deliver the next generation and future leaders who will shoulder the trust and lead the state to greater success,” she said.-BERNAMA
