The police are investigating reports lodged about a same-sex marriage that apparently took place in Kuala Lumpur.
News of the marriage, apparently involving two men from Tawau, has gone viral on social media.
Tawau police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said in a statement here today that the two men would be called in to have their statements recorded.
He said the investigation would be based on two police reports lodged in Tawau and Kota Kinabalu.
Fadil said the police also sought the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s assistance to identify the owner of the Facebook account, who posted the news.
On Nov 12, Tawau Youth Association chairman, Shamry Mohamad Sani lodged a police report on the matter, two days after seeing the status update on Facebook under the name Pui Chi (in Chinese letters) about a same-sex, pre-wedding ceremony in Kuala Lumpur involving two Chinese men.-BERNAMA
