UEM Group Berhad (UEM Group) today announced the appointment of Noorazman Abd Aziz as the new chairman effective Jan 1.
He succeeds Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, 69, who opted to retire from the post after having served more than 10 years in UEM Group.
The engineering-based infrastructure and services conglomerate said in a press release that Noorazman was appointed UEM Group board member on Nov 15, 2010, and was named deputy chairman on April 14, 2017.
He is also currently executive director, investments, of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the parent company of UEM Group.
Noorazman joined Khazanah in May 2010 after having spent two and a half years as managing director of Fajr Capital Ltd, a Khazanah investee company.
Prior to this, he held a succession of international banking and finance positions including with Citigroup, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange and Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority.
Azman Mokhtar, the managing director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, in the same statement, recording the company’s gratitude to Ahmad Tajuddin, said he had led UEM Group “through a very important period of its 51-year history, a period that coincided with the GLC Transformation Programme and UEM Group’s own period of consolidation and renewed growth”.
Ahmad Tajuddin, meanwhile, said: “I have greatly enjoyed my time at UEM Group and am proud to be involved in many mega, iconic projects in Malaysia and abroad over the years. It gives me great pride to see the business is on a strong footing, continues to grow and has established strategic positions in key industries and markets.”-FMT
