The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is optimistic the Selangor state government will sign the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) before the coming general election.
Its chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad said it was very sad as only Selangor had yet to sign the IBR but MACC had not given up hope to set a date for the signing.
“If other states including Penang and Kelantan had shown their commitment to sign the IBR, why should Selangor be different.
“We hope before the general election. If Selangor wants to put in additional initiatives in the IBR, we will be willing to accommodate the commitment of the state government,” he told reporters here today.
He was attending the Save Kitchen Expenses programme organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) with the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) and MACC.
Also present at the programme were Fama director-general, Datuk Ahmad Ishak and LKIM director-general Datuk M Saedon Ab. Majid.
Commenting on Kampung Sungai Yu land award case in Kuala Selangor, Dzulkifli said investigations were now in the final stage.
“I am expecting the probe to be completed by next month and the investigation papers would be handed over to the prosecution for further action,” he said.
A local daily had earlier reported that the Selangor state Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) had confirmed breaches in process of awarding land in the village after a detailed study on the information obtained from the Land and District Office and Selangor Lands and Mines Office.
Meanwhile, Ahmad said the programme today was an effort by Fama to assist the government address the rising cost goods faced by consumers.
“The programme is implemented by Pasar Tani, Kedai Agrobazar and Kedai Rakyat 1 Malaysia on selected food items sold at five to 20 per cent lower than the market price.
“The programme also received the cooperation of LKIM in providing special discounts on fresh frozen fish from Q Fish as well as fresh fish from other sources,” he said. — BERNAMA
