Johor is set to become Malaysia’s new economic engine due to its rapid development, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
While launching the Progressive Johor Expo at Dataran Mahkota, Kota Iskandar here today, Najib said that Malaysia’s growth will henceforth be centred in Johor, where economic advancement prospects will directly benefit the state and the country.
“Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that the Expo is being held to exhibit and inform Johoreans about the development achieved by the state, as well as Johor’s direction and plans for the future.
“In fact, the expo does not need to inform me (about this) because I have known it. Johor’s progress has been very vigorous, to the point that I have described Johor as the new economic powerhouse of the country.
“This is an acknowledgement of rapid development in the state. The country’s pulse of development will be in Johor,” the prime minister added.-NST
