iran iraq border earthquake

No Malaysians were reported to be in the area when the Iran-Iraq border earthquake hits with a 7.3-magnitude near Iran’s Kermanshah province, 680 kilometres west of Tehran on Sunday.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said this was based on information relayed by the Malaysian embassy in the Iranian capital.

“The government and people of Malaysia express their condolences and sympathy to the family members of the victims,” it said.

The ministry, through the Malaysian mission in Tehran, would continue to monitor developments related to the incident, the ministry said.

It was reported that more than 300 had been killed and thousands of others injured following the powerful temblor.-BERNAMA
