A contractor made a gruesome discovery Sunday when he found a dead body at an abandoned building near MRT Sungai Jernih yesterday.
The unidentified female remains were found around 10am. The body was 40 per cent burnt.
According to a witness who only wants to be known Rahman, he said he was searching for zinc before he stumbled on the body, which he initially thought was a doll.
Rahman, in his 40s, said he contacted the police when he realised that it was a charred body.
“I approached the object as I thought it was a doll. I was shocked when I found out it was charred body.
“The body had severe burnt marks from the head to the shoulders,” he said.
Meanwhile, district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff said police were alerted by a member of public at 10.25am.
“In the building, police found a bottle of thinner with burnt marks and clothes debris on the 15th floor. We also found a lighter and a knife near the body.
“No identification document was found on the woman and she is believed to have fallen down from the 15th floor after she burned herself,” he said.
He added, according to residents nearby, they saw sparks coming from the building around 6pm on Saturday.
The body was sent to Kajang Hospital for a post-mortem.
Police had classified the case as sudden death pending autopsy result.-NST
